A new-style show jumping event will bring the razzmatazz of continental horse shows to Chester this summer. On 31st July and 1st August Chester Racecourse will stage a 2 day show jumping festival which could change the face of the sport in the UK.
The highlight of the two days will be the Inaugural British Masters Invitational featuring the top 40 invited riders from across the UK and Europe. The event will see our current and future Olympic stars jumping for a prize fund in excess of (£60,000) making this one of the biggest show jumping events in the UK. The Thursday will see a significant Horse of the Year Show qualifier being held in the historic Roodee at the racecourse.
Working in partnership with BSJA (British Show Jumping Association) Chester Racecourse will introduce a series of new and exciting elements into the sport. These developments have been tipped to change the sport dramatically, in the same way as Twenty-Twenty has transformed cricket.

Live music brings summer evenings to life this August, with Tatton Park’s outdoor picnic concert series.
The Hallé Orchestra celebrate the finale of their 150th anniversary season with the return of the annual Hallé Fireworks & Light Spectacular on Saturday 2nd August.
This year’s programme celebrates Cheshire’s Year of Gardens ’08, and features music appropriate to the occasion including Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker, Grainger’s Country Gardens, J. Strauss’ Roses from the South and The Love of Three Oranges by Prokofiev. The delightful programme also features works by Dvorak, Berlioz, Wagner and Grieg.
The traditional firework display at the end of the concert is synchronised this year to Holst‘s most popular Planet suite – Mars, Saturn and Jupiter – and provides a fitting spectacular finish to a great evening’s entertainment.
Why not pre-order a picnic to start off your fun? Picnics are being provided by the world renowned delicatessen, Carluccio’s. They can be pre-ordered on purchase of tickets and collected on arrival at Tatton. The concerts are again supported by Jacques Cider with Fruit, whose complimentary drink was very popular with 2007’s concert goers.
Having long established itself as one of the leading venues for outdoor summer events, Tatton’s concerts draw a fantastic crowd and attract new audiences each year, as well as its loyal fan-base. Its stunning lakeside setting offers a unique backdrop for an evening’s entertainment.
