There aren’t many bars out that can say they have been at the top of their game for years; but BarLounge has been a Chester institution for almost 20 years.
Founded back in 1999 by hospitality entrepreneur Neil McDonnell, BarLounge was the very first bar of its kind in the city. Bringing its unique mix of classic cocktails, superb British food and extraordinary service to the heart of historic Chester, it has been at the heart of the city’s social scene ever since.
Nestled close to the world-famous rows on historic Watergate Street, there has been an inn on the site since medieval days. It’s perfectly positioned for a quick pit-stop after an afternoon shopping or sight-seeing (the sharing boards are to die for) and it is THE place to be on race days.
Whatever the weather, the iconic terrace is always busy with the City’s beautiful crowd and the whole place makes the transition from super-relaxed bistro to the place to party most evenings, especially Friday through to Sunday.
From the fabulous surroundings (recently refurbished but still bursting with character) to the inventive cocktail list and eclectic food menu; the attention to detail here is what really impacts.
The talented bar team help create a real feeling of theatre whilst the chefs work their magic on the extensive, freshly prepared menu. Nothing is too much trouble and the mixed clientele of regulars, ladies who lunch, tourists and business people all seem to agree.
The good vibes continue beyond the great food and drinks with a packed calendar of events including the regular Ladies Lunches, legendary Halloween bash and super-seasonal Christmas offering. From winter warmers under a blanket on the terrace to a chilled glass of fizz on race day; it’s a year-round mecca for superb hospitality, fabulous food and fun – whatever your pleasure…
Don’t Miss: The cocktails! Stunning presentation, a great selection of both classic and bespoke mixes plus the very finest botanicals help make BarLounge’s the best in town!
