John Lewis & Partners host an artisan pop-up at their Chester store, supporting over 30 small businesses

Curated Makers collaborates with over 30 small businesses to host a three-week pop-up within the John Lewis & Partners Chester branch

Chester, UK Curated Makers and leading British retailer, John Lewis & Partners, have collaborated to host a three-week pop-up in their Chester branch on the Greyhound Park, which features the works of over 30 independent artists and makers from across the North of England.

Situated on the 1st floor near the John Lewis café, this unique concession exhibits a carefully curated selection of locally made, unique handcrafted goods including artwork, jewellery, ceramics, candles, Christmas decorations and more. Picture it as a highly curated artisan market, situated within a shop environment, open 7 days a week, offering the convenience of shopping small and local, within an established department store.

With opportunities for customers to ‘meet-the-maker’ within the pop-up, artists will take residency for 1-day-only, offering live pet portraits, personalised Christmas decorations, upcycled gifts and more; taking place on each Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the pop-up.

Curated Makers is the brainchild of Chester born entrepreneur Megan Jones, 29, who created the brand to give small, local, independent makers a platform to showcase their products within prime retail spaces.

Speaking of the partnership, Founder of Curated Makers, Megan Jones said: “It is an incredible moment for Curated Makers and for the artists that we represent, to be able to set-up shop within John Lewis & Partners. The timing of the pop-up has given us the opportunity to showcase products perfect for Christmas gifting, as well as introducing an exciting shopping experience by hosting makers to offer personalised gifts and portraits, live in-store, whilst customers watch their unique items be created, by a local artist. What better way to start Christmas shopping”

Sophie Dentith-Davies, Home Department Manager at John Lewis & Partners Chester, said: “Myself and the team at John Lewis & Partners Chester, are really excited to be working with Curated Makers to bring locally made products to our customers. Giving our customers a chance to ‘Meet the Maker’ is a fantastic opportunity and we hope that you love it just as much as we do.”

The Curated Makers Made Local pop-up shop, is situated on the 1st floor of John Lewis & Partners, opposite the café and will run from Monday 4th November to Sunday 24th November 2019.

Opening hours: Monday – Saturday 9-7 pm and Sunday 11-5 pm.
