Welcome to Book Club! There’s no subscription, just pop along when you can. If you spot a book you like the look of, give it a read & come along to have a chat about it. They're a friendly welcoming bunch who just like to read, chat about the book, and have a bit of a natter…. A fun way to spend a Tuesday evening once a month.
This month’s book: The Noose of Samuel Burrows by Nick Kevern Review & Synopsis: Samuel Burrows was an infamous Hangman in Chester during the early 1800’s. This book is a fictionalised account of his life and career, told in confession style on his death bed. The story encompasses the lives of some of his victims and their families and shines a light on the economic and social history of the era. A fascinating novel, and a glimpse into Chester’s gory past. A must for fans of Chester history and lovers of a grisly tale!! The book was launched in October at various venues throughout Chester to great acclaim – buy your book now before it runs out of stock (again!)
This particular book club will also feature a guest appearance from Nick who would love to discuss your thoughts on his book.
(There is no cost to come to book club, but you will need to source your own book! Any drinks or food to be paid for.)
