SNOT is an American punk band from Santa Barbara, California, originally formed in 1995. Known for blending punk rock, hardcore, and funk influences, featured Lynn Strait as the charismatic lead vocalist, along with the lead guitarist Mikey Doling, bassist John Fahnestock, drummer Jamie Miller, and, later, Sonny Mayo on guitar.
SNOT brought an edgy, high-energy sound with a funk and groovy, unique twist to the late '90s music scene. The first full-length album, ”Get Some”, released in 1997 from Geffen Records, became iconic for its aggressive and impulsive sound and Strait's raw, confrontational lyrics. The album received praise for its energy and distinctive fusion of punk, metal, and funk elements, positioning SNOT as part of the emerging nu-metal scene, alongside bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, System Of A Down, and Slipknot, with whom they often shared the stage.
Unfortunately, the band's career was cut short in 1998 when Lynn Strait tragically died in a car accident, along with his dog, Dobbs, who was featured on the cover of Get Some. Following Strait's death, the band dissolved, but SNOT's impact continued, and SNOT developed a devoted cult following. In 2000, Mikey Doling produced ”Strait Up”, a tribute album that featured guest vocalists from various major bands performing unreleased SNOT tracks as a tribute to Strait's memory. Over the years, SNOT's music has maintained its influence within the punk and metal communities as a legendary band.
In 2025, SNOT returned to the scene with the new frontman, Andy Knapp. God Forbid/ex-Bad Wolves guitarist Doc Coyle has signed on to fill in the spot vacated by Mayo at Snot‘s upcoming live commitments.
After the reactivation announcement, Snot performed on the main stage of Welcome To Rockville Festival, Inkcarceration Festival, along with many sold-out club shows in the States, Europe tour, including Alkatraz Festival and Motocultor Festival, Aftershock Festival, and a sold-out show at the Glasshouse in California in December, as a great outcome of the first reunion year.
SNOT is writing new material, and the long-anticipated new SNOT songs will be released in 2026.
GET SOME, SNOT IS BACK!
