Historic city sight and national treasure Chester Cathedral has announced musical plans for the new year.
The former Saxon church has teamed up with Classics in the City to present a winter concert called “R&B Classics in the Cathedral”, and is welcoming visitors and local Cestrians to book tickets.
The upcoming concert in the heart of Chester will let music fans enjoy an evening of hits from the golden age of R&B, transformed into classical pieces and performed by a live orchestra. Within the Grade-listed cathedral’s elegant architecture of arches and pillars, ticket holders can immerse themselves in music sourced from the 90s and noughties, ranging from dancefloor bangers and anthems to soulful slow jams.
On the night, an ensemble of trained musicians and accomplished vocalists will play the music of award-winning and best-selling artists like Usher, TLC, Alicia Keys, Mary J Blige, Brandy, Destiny’s Child, Ne-Yo and many more. Combining the contemporary with the classical, the event has limited seating capacity and, as a result, tickets are expected to sell out in advance. As such, those wishing to attend are encouraged to book early to avoid any disappointment.
Admission for the classical music concert is available at various prices according to seats selected in the cathedral.
The R&B Classics in the Cathedral event is being held on Friday, January 30. The event will get started at 7 pm and runs until 10 pm. The cathedral can easily be found at 33 St Werburgh Street in Chester.
