Chester to Witness 80s Extravaganza

Music and comedy nightspot Alexander’s Live is taking Chester residents and visitors back in time in 2026.

An evening event inspired by the 1980s is planned featuring tribute acts dedicated to stars from the era, along with a band that performs a wide selection of smash hits sourced from the age of dayglow and legwarmers.

The show’s headliner is Duran Duran-ish, who hail from Birmingham like the group they are designed to replicate. A successful six-piece, the band have performed all over the world in a range of venues from major stadiums to more intimate events in night clubs. Described as the next best thing to seeing Duran Duran in concert, they play a set-list loaded with hits produced over four decades.

The band won’t be alone on the night, however. Warming up the crowd beforehand and billed as the ultimate Madonna tribute, Mad Donna will perform the iconic singer’s best-known tracks and, after Duran Duran-ish, System Eighties will take to the stage. A Midland-based act, they also tour internationally and play the biggest hits from the 80s. Comprised of seasoned musicians, the band are celebrated for their live performances.

Duran Duran-ish, Mad Donna and System Eighties will now perform at Alexander’s Live on Saturday, February 7. Doors to the gig will open at 7 pm and the first act will be onstage at 8.30 pm. The venue is in Rufus Court in Chester, and all tickets are subject to a £1 restoration levy to help preserve the popular venue.
