Storyhouse in Chester has announced it is hosting a production for children based on a popular picture book this summer.

Called “The Koala Who Could”, the family-friendly show will enjoy a three-date run at the registered charity’s theatre in August, and is encouraging fans of the best-seller to book early to prevent disappointment.

The empowering musical production is full of laughs and focused on taking a chance and embracing change, even when it’s not easy. Families can join Kevin the Koala, who takes pride in being the “King of Staying Still”, and his friends Wombat and Kangaroo on an adventure into the Australian Outback. Together, the companions learn how great life can be when you just try new things.

The show has been adapted from author Rachel Bright and illustrator Jim Field’s award-winning picture book from leading publisher, the Hachette Children’s Group and is already drawing applause from audiences.

Commenting on the show, Strictly Come Dancing co-presenter and host of The Traitors, Claudia Winkleman, said:

“Fabulous rhymes, I’m in love with Kevin.”

The new production was delivered from book to stage by Emma Earle. Famous for her work on the successful “Oi Frog & Friends!”, Earle also handles director duties for the show, which also features lyrics and music from Eamonn O’Dwyer.

The Koala Who Could will now be live on stage in the Main Theatre at Storyhouse from Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3. The Chester arts centre can be found on Hunter Street in the city centre, and the show is suitable for ages three and over.
