Chester Races has announced that its iconic “Powells Jewellery Ladies Day” is making a welcome return at the end of August.
The historic racecourse that dates to 1539 has also put out a call for dancing queens in Chester to attend as it is also presenting hit ABBA tribute act Björn Again at the event.
An unmissable occasion for race fans from Chester and beyond, Ladies Day is a grand tradition established in 1813. Racegoers are invited to turn up in their finest fashion on the day, whether it’s a smart suit or floor length dress, and can enter the “Best Dressed Competition” to have chance at being dubbed “Most Glamorous Guest”.
Gates to the racecourse will open at 11.30 am before the first race of the day at 2.10 pm, the Powells Jewellery EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes. The last race is the Handicaps Stakes at 5.35 pm. Both races have prize money of £25,000.
Half an hour after the final race, the music will begin with a live performance from Björn Again. The Australian band are world-renowned for their authentic and comedic rendition of Sweden’s Eurovision all-stars. The four-piece will be playing a set packed with ABBA’s best-known hits that may include “Mamma Mia”, “Take A Chance on Me”, “Waterloo”, “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!”, “Dancing Queen” and more.
Powells Jewellery Ladies Day with Björn Again will be at Chester Racecourse on Saturday, August 30. The Racecourse is situated on New Crane Street in Chester.
