The Chester Raft Race is an annual charity event that takes place on the River Dee with free live entertainment, food trucks, raffle and beer tent
Teams construct their own rafts (some more sturdy and ship-shape than others!) and there is much “messing about on the river” as the teams make their way along the course with friendly rivalries and shenanigans on the water. Prizes are awarded for the best interpretation of the raft theme, as well as prizes for the fastest times down the river.
Watch the race from The Groves or the Suspension Bridge, then make your way down to the meadows where there are food stalls, children’s entertainment, beer, cocktails and so much more.
The event is free to watch (but donations for the chosen charity on the day are welcome) and if you'd like to take on a unique challenge and enter a raft into the race, then you can sign up via the 'Website' button above.
All proceeds and donations go to a different charity each year.
Located just a short distance from the event venue, Queens Park High School provides ample parking spaces.
