Experience the history and beauty of Chester’s Christmas parades
Chester’s numerous parades throughout the festive period range from the historic and symbolic to the simple beauty of bringing light and life to the city in celebration. Kicking off the festivities on the 21st of November is the 12 days of Christmas & Spot Santa parade
with live music, carols and Santa’s sleigh followed closely by the lantern parade
on the 28th of November with the city’s children filling the streets with the glow of beautiful lanterns. December brings the Winter Watch parade
on the 5th and on the 12th the Winter Watch and Saturnalia parade
. These parades date back to the 1400’s and the Roman legions, quite the historic spectacle to see led by traditional torchlight.
The parades coincide with the Thursday late night shopping
so you can do a little present shopping too and we’d recommend to have a bite to eat or drink in some of the amazing food and drink establishments
Chester has to offer. You can even find seasonal deals
to make your pennies go a little further this Christmas.
