The Upside Down Cabaret
A monthly variety show right in the heart of Chester
We’re back with another helping! Wednesday May 31st at 7pm, The Live Rooms, Station Road, Chester, CH1 3DR
The Upside Down Cabaret offers you a show where things are never quite as they seem, and performers from many weird and wonderful walks of life find their moment to shine. From outrageously funny drag performances to dancing divas, comedy, burlesque, live singing, cross-cultural and multimedia performances, there’s something different every time you walk through these doors…
This LGBTQIA+-led event promotes queer artistry of all kinds, with performers from neurodivergent, disabled and marginalised backgrounds as well as showcasing the best in new and alternative drag, pop culture and nerdlesque, parody and satire, modern Bollywood and beyond. Programmed and hosted by local drag king Mr Brake Down (and occasionally by some special guests), the show promises thrills, laughter and quality entertainment in an inclusive joyous space. Come turn your world Upside Down for the night!
May Lineup:
We’re turning it ALL upside down this month with a guest host, the sensational Wrexham talent that is Miss Cherry Good! Alongside bags of comedic and musical talent from this succulent fruity hostess, your local king and showrunner Mr Brake Down will still be there to deliver a spectacle of exotic proportions, as we welcome his Tiger King Extravaganza to the stage. You’ll also be treated to the transcendental delights of Kali Kelevara, offering you a blend of sultry sassiness and camp humour, playfully poking fun at the misconceptions of both the drag and burlesque genres. It’s an artsy night whenever this next visual arts and multimedia performer is in town, and there’s some eco-conscious chaos going on as Charlie’s Arty Party presents Cardi Boardman: falsely imprisoned and ready to break out of his box! Next up is Autumn OhMy Dayz, an award winning, versatile vixen that has performed for both national and international audiences. Creator of the world's first Alan Partridge themed striptease, she connects with her audience to take them on a rollercoaster of experiences from side-splitting slapstick to boa humping old school bump and grind that’s enough to make even your parents sweat. And last but by no means least, local Chester drag queen Gretchen Winters will be offering up a slice of her campy theatrical delights, O.M.G. that’s SO Gretch! A night of cheeky surprises, sensual daydreams and all out chaos awaits, so grab your tickets without delay!
Please be advised that this show is recommend for audiences aged 16+ due to adult humour and partial nudity. Visitors under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a companion of at least 18.
