Join in the celebrations on VE day with socially distancing Stay At Home parties and join the national sing-along at 9 pm with a UK wide rendition of Dame Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll Meet Again’.
A pre-recorded VE Day service will be available to watch online from May 8th with contributions from The Lord Mayor of Chester, The Chairman of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Chester Cathedral. Military Personnel, local dignitaries, clergy and school children have also contributed to the short service which has been recorded from their personal locations, including onboard HMS Albion.
Get your Stay at Home party going with some delicious - whether you fancy an Afternoon Tea, burgers or pizza there's a local business who would be so grateful for your orders.
Landmarks in Cheshire West and Chester will be illuminated in red, white and blue with the help of the Council’s Street Lighting team. Chester Town Hall will be decorated in Union Flags and lit up red, white and blue and the Cathedral will still take part in the national ringing out for peace at 7 pm on 8 May. There is also a plan for Chester Bandstand to host a special online performance for VE Day”.
