National attraction and world conservationist leader Chester Zoo recently announced the welcome return of the immensely popular “Afterglow”.
The summer initiative is designed to let Chester visitors and residents enjoy the rare experience of exploring the zoo after hours, and organisers have promised this year’s edition will be bigger than ever before.
Those attending the evenings in early to mid-August will find the award-winning zoological gardens transformed into different zones, each with their own unique them and loaded with opportunities for eating, entertainment and interactive encounters.
Highlights listed for the 2025 version of Afterglow include huge puppets of prehistoric dinosaurs on the prowl, a Master Lego Builder feature, a silent disco, skilled street performers including jugglers, stilt walkers and acrobats, theatrical performances, character meet-and-greets and massive inflatables. Ticketholders who prefer a more peaceful pace are also accounted for with guided meditation and wellbeing trails filled with natural sights and sounds.
Many of Chester Zoo’s guests are unaware that the species who call it home are often most active in the hours after the attraction closes, making the upcoming events unmissable for animal fans. General Manager for Visitor Experience at Chester Zoo, Gemma Wright, commented:
“Every ticket supports our vital conservation work – both here in the UK and globally. So, while you’re enjoying your frozen treats and giant puppet selfies, you’re also helping protect some of the world’s most threatened species.”
The Afterglow evening will be held on set dates between Friday, August 1 and Sunday, August 17, between the hours of 3 pm and 8 pm.
