Breakout Chester and Escapism are two successful escape room centres in the city. All year, they offer immersive experiences that let friends and family members join forces to solve puzzles and work against the clock.

This winter, the two venues have updated their adventure options with rooms designed for the festive season that offer visitors and residents to Chester opportunities for unique Christmas fun.

Based on Bridge Street in the city’s historic rows, Breakout Chester is running two Christmas-themed rooms, “A Crimson Christmas” and the “Night Before Christmas”. The first room revolves around returning children’s gifts that have been transformed into cryptic clues by Dickens’ infamous miser Mr Scrooge. The second takes place in the North Pole and involves bringing back Christmas magic so Santa Claus’s sleigh can take off on Christmas Eve.

Over at Escapism, which is located on George Street, another two adventures await. In “The Ice Crown”, clue crackers must defrost the land after the wrath of a cold-hearted Monarch creates an eternal winter. Those participating must beat chilling traps, magical puzzles and riddles to return the Snow Queen’s crown.

Theatre lovers in Chester can also tests their wits in “Showtime”, an escape room with a pantomime story. On the opening night of a festive production, the Dame’s costume wig has disappeared and the show can’t go on without it. Backstage, it’s the team’s task to track it down.

Both escape room centres in Chester offer a range of rooms, with different difficulty levels that are designed for groups of varying sizes.
