Canadian Rock Comes to Chester

A blues rock star from Toronto, Canada will perform a live set at one of Chester’s most famous music venues.

Winter will see The Live Rooms extend a warm welcome to electric guitar maestro Anthony Gomes for a single night show.

A singer, songwriter, producer and guitarist, Gomes is a multi-talented artist known for an aggressive, loud playing style that blends rock and blues in his own inimitable fashion. Commenting on his approach, Guitar World said:

“Gomes is a power player who is at his best when his gear is in the scorched earth between blues and rock. After all, it’s the electric guitar; sometimes tickling it is not enough.”

During his extensive career, the artist has reached number one in the US Billboard Blues Chart and clocked up tens of millions of downloads. Playing to packed out shows, he has performed on several continents across the globe and even carries an official endorsement from legendary bluesman B.B. King.

Highly prolific, Gomes now has 14 studio albums to his credit. The most recent, was titled “Praise the Loud” and was released in spring 2025 through Rat Pak Records. Ticket holders joining the show in Chester will now get their chance to hear classic tracks from albums like “Peace, Love & Loud Guitars” and “Containment Blues”, among others.

Music fans can catch Anthony Gomes at The Live Rooms in Chester on Thursday, January 29. The gig will begin at 8 pm and the live music venue is located at 1 Station Road, just a five to ten minute walk from the city centre.
