Event planners at Chester Cathedral have announced that the grade-listed landmark will host a silent disco in the new year.
January will find the spiritual home of the city opening its doors to the event organised by “Silent Discos In Incredible Places”, which showcases the best music from the 80s, 90s and noughties.
The 2026 event is part of the debut tour for the globetrotting disco that brings a world-class music and dance experience to the city’s celebrated historic building courtesy of skilled DJs and premium equipment. Those coming down to the event can expect to hear a selection of decade-defining tracks in the cathedral, which will be specially illuminated for the occasion.
Revellers can join fellow music lovers and dance while wearing a pair of cutting-edge LED headphones. There will be a choice of three channels hosted by different DJs and artists on the playlists, including artists such as Amy Winehouse, Prince, Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Tina Turner, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, the Spice Girls, Usher and more.
There will be two separate sessions to pick from, the first between 6.30 pm and 9 pm and the second from 9 pm to 11.59 pm. Entry is only available to those 18 and over, and a fully stocked bar will be open all night. Valid photo ID may be requested for access.
The silent disco is now happening at Chester Cathedral on Thursday, January 31. The cathedral can be found on Saint Werburgh Street in the heart of the city. Tickets are available from £29.71.
