Chester Welcomes Whiskey and Wine Tastings

The home of fine wine in Chester, Vin Santo, has announced a series of springtime tastings. While the cellar bar has unveiled events dedicated to French and Italian wine, it’s also holding a tasting to celebrate spirits from the United States.

Titled American Whiskey with Lisa Jaffrey of Sazerac, the event on March 25 lets lovers of the US tipple join an exclusive masterclass. For $65, enthusiasts can appreciate offerings from the most awarded distillery in the world, Buffalo Trace, and learn of its impressive heritage. Led by the experienced Jaffrey, the tasting takes whiskey fans on an immersive odyssey through a range of brands like E H Taylor, Thomas H Handy, W.L. Weller, Eagle Rare and Sazerac, produced at America’s longest continuously running distillery.

Wines of Southern France is another tasting taking place on April 8. Vin Santo will pay tribute to French wines from the Mediterranean, with six labels sourced from Languedoc, Provence and the Rhone. Budding sommeliers joining can experience rich reds, crisp rosé and elegant whites at the £30 per person tasting.

On April 22, Wines of Gavi with Zara Repetto of Fontanassa Wines, will run. After a recent visit to the Fontanassa winery, Vin Santo owner Simon Parkinson was impressed and invited Repetto to showcase her astonishing wines. Those booking can sip rare wines from the region, including the exquisite Dolcetto red wine.

Vin Santo is on Watergate Street in Chester, and all tastings begin at 7 pm and end at 10 pm.
