Enjoy a genuinely warm welcome, local home cooked food and a great selection of ales and spirits in one of Chester's most historic settings
The Bear & Billet is a pub and restaurant right inside Chester's city walls set in a black and white traditional half timbered building dating all the way back to 1664. Known for their incredibly friendly welcome, sourced, good food and a wide range of ales and spirits The Bear & Billet is a firm Chester favourite.
The pub boasts original fixtures and fittings and is spread out over 3 storeys with incredible views of the famous city walls. In our modern times it's become a favourite spot for watching live sport with plenty of space to get a good view on 5 flat screen TV's over the 3 floors and even offers the opportunity to hire parts of this wonderful piece of Chester's history for private functions and meetings - Click the 'Hire' button above for more info on hiring.
The Bear & Billet is a truly traditional English Inn in every sense, originally the townhouse of the Earl of Shrewsbury, this unique pub that has stood the test of time is also said to be the birthplace of the grandmother of Beatles' legend John Lennon.
You can be assured that you will enjoy a warm welcome and delicious food and drink in beautiful surroundings steeped in Chester's diverse history.
Food is served daily from 12 - 10 pm.
