Boxing Day, 10.30 am
This Boxing Day take part in Chester Round The Walls, one of the oldest in the country, with the Boxing Day event being run first in 1972.
Not only is the event old, but it starts and finishes at the Chester Racecourse (the Roodee) the oldest racecourse still used in England.
The race is approximately 6km in length and follows the best path to appreciate the city walls with one full lap of the walls as well as a lap around the racecourse.
The race starts at 10.30 am by the Grandstand with a lap around the perimeter of the racecourse with just a short section on grass and then on the riverside path. The runners will then return into the racecourse, run back to the start by the Grandstand, up the steps and left to proceed on one full clockwise lap of the historic city walls, passing under the iconic Eastgate clock before returning via the riverside path to the finish at the racecourse.
