Join in for a jam-packed day of sustainability and climate action! Come and meet the Earth Giant friends, bring clothes to trade at the clothes swap, and enjoy a whole day of talks and workshops on a variety of eco themes. An immersive, Augmented Reality exhibition will reveal the visible and unseen impacts of the ‘plastic pandemic’, forecasting what the world might look like in 25 years’ time, and showing how small changes really can make a difference.
At nearby St. Mary’s Creative Space, support local sellers at a sustainable craft fair, and enjoy a cup of tea at the climate café.
Grosvenor Museum daytime programme:
10.30am – 4pm: Clothes Swap. Trade the clothes you no longer wear for something new! Free, no booking required, and it’s perfect for refreshing family wardrobes.
10.30am – 5pm: How sustainable were the Romans? Sick to Death will be running drop-in family workshops exploring sustainability and public health.
10.30am – 5pm: Explore West Cheshire Museums’ collections up close with the Archaeological Officer, discovering how different societies recycled through time
11am – 12pm: Cheshire Archives and local allotmenteers will be running a ‘Fork to Plate’ demonstration, using home-grown seasonal produce. There’ll be a chance to learn about growing your own, plus delicious samples to try!
12.30 – 1pm: An introduction to the Chester Hydro Hub with Niall Macfayden
1.30 – 2pm: Eco Communities’ Helen Tandy will discuss how to live an eco-friendly lifestyle on a budget
4pm – Festival for the Future prizegiving ceremony. Join us in celebrating the winners of our ‘Getting Drastic with Plastic’ schools’ competition. School-aged children in the North West were asked to imagine the state of the planet in 25 years’ time, and the winning responses will be shared at the prizegiving.
All talks and events are free.St Mary’s Space programme:10.30 – 4pm: Craft Fair and climate café. Shop sustainable products from local makers, crafters and sellers, and enjoy a chat about climate issues over a cup of tea. No entry fee or booking required.
11am: Sing for the Earth will be performing outside St Mary’s Space.
