Chester Rows Major Restoration Project is Set to Begin

The Chester Rows restoration project, part of the High Street Heritage Action Zones initiative is set to get underway this month with surveys taking place on parts of the walkways.

The project is located around the historic Rows with the four principal historic streets starting from ‘The Cross’ – Bridge Street, Watergate Street, Northgate Street and Eastgate Street.

A programme of improvements will be delivered to repair and enhance the physical fabric of the Rows resulting in a more attractive and usable space for the City. A new boutique hotel development will also transform a key vacant unit, driving vibrancy and activity back into the heart of the Rows.

The initial surveys are to be carried out over the next six weeks and the Rows will remain open at all times during this time to minimise disruption. Further work is scheduled to take place in early 2022 on a wider area.
