The former owner of the Chester Townhouse and regional hospitality leader Steve Hesketh is now releasing a new book for children.
Titled “Bee Our Guest”, the book is designed to educate kids on the careers open to them in the hospitality sector.
With 40 pages and in full colour, the new title is aimed at children aged between seven and 10 and comes in a paperback format. Hesketh has teamed up with Hannah Jesse, a skilled illustrator, and Liverpool-based author Natlie Reeves Billing, to make the project possible.
A key purpose of the book is to excite and inform children about the field of hospitality and just how varied careers can be. Dubbed “The Hospitality Hero”, Hesketh seeks to ensure that hospitality is on the radar of young people across the UK, as by age seven many children are already forming ideas for their future.
Currently, the hospitality industry is the third biggest employer in the UK. However, hiring new talent remains among the sector’s hardest challenges. Hesketh is dedicated to changing this trend, beginning with early education. The book shows that a career in hospitality is creative, skilled and one of purpose, whether people work on the front desk, management, housekeeping, maintenance or events. He commented:
“Now the mission is simple: get this into primary schools. Children should realise hospitality is every bit as exciting as being a police officer or a dancer, you make someone’s day for a living.”
Bee Our Guest is now on sale on Amazon.
