The independent Townhouse Hotel offers impeccable accommodation in the heart of the city. However, it’s also praised for its dedication to good causes and the community. Since May, the venue has hosted the Sunset Café, a summer programme to support Soul Kitchen Chester, a local charity.
Designed to provide people in need with real-world hospitality sector experience, the programme has proved a considerable success but will wrap up on Friday, October 3. Fortunately, a brand-new winter initiative called “Soup with Soul” is launching three days later at the hotel’s restaurant in its place.
Advisor to the Soul Kitchen board and owner of the hotel, Steven Hesketh, commented:
“We’re switching to what people want in winter, hot soup, quick service, decent price and a way to support Soul Kitchen while you grab lunch.”
The new programme will provide take away or eat in soup from Monday to Friday between noon and 2.30 pm, with three flavours to choose from. “Soup with Soul” is running alongside another new scheme called “Second Bite” featuring tasty shortbread biscuits. Soul Kitchen team members will make the soup, and have an opportunity for front of house training on Mondays and Wednesdays.
One pound from each soup sold will be given to the Soul Kitchen Charity Fund, and participants will receive valuable training to build a career in the hospitality industry.
The Chester Townhouse restaurant is easy to find inside the Townhouse Hotel at 49-51 Lower Bridge Street in the centre of the city.
