Storyhouse, Chester’s starred venue, is renowned for being a beating heart for the community and its first-class arts programme packed with plays, films and learning opportunities. Now, it is inviting residents and city visitors to attend performances of a beloved musical that has won numerous awards.
A big name in London’s West End and on Broadway in America, a fresh production of Sister Act is arriving soon at Storyhouse.
The classic yarn made famous by Whoopi Goldberg on the silver screen sees Disco diva Deloris run into trouble when she becomes an eyewitness to murder. Hidden in a convent under protective custody, she ends up helping the struggling choir and her sisters to find their true voices while rediscovering her own.
The all-star cast features West End favourite Landi Oshinowo in the role of Deloris and theatre legend and Coronation Street stalwart Wendi Peters as the Mother Superior. The show features original music created by the eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, who scored Enchanted and Aladdin for Disney with Motown-, disco- and soul-inspired songs. The production has already enjoyed five-star reviews from members of the press at The Independent, The Sun and The Upcoming.
Sister Act will now be on stage at the Storyhouse Main Theatre from Monday, June 24 to Saturday, June 29. The arts hub is located on Hunter Street in Chester, and the show is two and half hours long with a 20-minute interval for refreshments.
Tickets are priced between £22.50 and £50.40 for members and between £25 and £56 for non-members.
