English Winemaker Event Arriving in Chester

Celebrated Chester wine bar and merchant Vin Santo has announced a special spring event coming soon to its period premises. While the historic crypted cellars it inhabits on Watergate Street date back to the 13th century, the upcoming occasion is arriving next month.

The Chester wine specialist is renowned for its regular tasting sessions which allow guests to widen their knowledge while trying new labels made with a wide range of grapes. However, the May event entitled “English Sparkling Wine Dinner with the Winemaker” promises a unique experience for all attending.

The seeds of event were sewn last year when Vin Santo set out on a personal quest to find an English sparkling wine it truly loved and discovered the Wiston Estate. Based in the West Sussex countryside in Pulborough, the 6,000-acre estate and winery is celebrated for producing some of the nation’s finest sparkling wines.

Now, Vin Santo is inviting enthusiasts to join an exclusive tasting with the estate’s wine maker Marcus Rayner-Ward. Six sparkling wines from the Wiston Estate will be served while the wine maker acts as guide. Each of the wines poured will be paired perfectly with a small plate creatively designed and cooked exclusively by Nick Parry of Chester’s family-owned Bear Bakery. Rayner-Ward has promised Vin Santo he will be delving deep into the estate’s cellar to share some extremely rare older wine vintages.

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 14 between 7 pm and 10.30 pm; tickets are available priced at £70 per person.
