Nestled in rural Cheshire, the Chester Fields Country Pub & Restaurant is a highlight for many visitors touring the northwest of England.
Sited in easy reach of the city, the gastro pub has made a name for itself for serving award-winning food all year round. Hot on the heels of its autumn and winter menu, the esteemed venue recently unveiled some new dishes for Christmas, dubbed “Festive Fayre”.
Delectable starters include salmon cured with gin, a tart made with Cheshire brie infused with thyme and beetroot, as well as an indulgent chicken liver pate with whisky and shallot.
Main meals are led by a Cheshire butter roast turkey with all the trimmings of a gourmet Christmas dinner. Alternatives include grilled sea bream fillet, pork tenderloin and beef feather blade slow braised. For vegetarians, the pub has prepared spiced baklava featuring root vegetables, spinach and chickpea.
No festive menu is complete without dessert. While traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce is a seasonal highlight, diners also have other options to choose from. These include sherry trifle with almond biscuit and toasted meringue, sticky figgy pudding with ice cream and toffee apple sauce, a chocolate hazelnut torte fortified with whiskey and a filo tart filled with pear, sultana and roasted apple.
The “Festive Fayre” menu will officially launch on Friday, November 29 and will be available until Monday, December 30, excluding Christmas Day and Sundays. The Chester Fields Country Pub & Restaurant can be found at Sandfield Farm in Chester on Chester Road.
