Barlounge, the city of Chester’s original independent bar and restaurant serving cocktails, has kicked off its celebrations in Chester after operating for 25 years.
The brainchild of businessman and hospitality expert Neil McDonnel, the venue opened in spring 2000 with a fresh concept for a first-class cocktail bar and restaurant.
A quarter of a century on, the bar is renowned for its inventive menus, mouth-watering mixed drinks and premium service levels and is one of North West England’s most successful and enduring venues.
Amidst preparations for the anniversary, McDonnel commented that he couldn’t imagine Barlounge in another city, calling Chester his adoptive home where he has found friends and raised children with his wife, Marita. He commented:
“It’s great to see the second generation of the guests who have literally grown-up alongside us enjoying the place too. And of course, the amazing team who have helped to make it happen – every single one of them has played a part in our success.”
He described Chester as a wonderful city and expressed gratitude for all the support and friendship BarLounge has received since its inception from fellow restauranteurs in the city, industry colleagues and guests.
The bar and restaurant team have a line-up of special events planned to mark the milestone throughout spring and summer including lunches, brunches and “throwback” drinking and dining experiences. These nostalgic events will revisit classic cocktails and dishes from past menus, letting regulars reminisce.
BarLounge can be found at 75 Watergate Street in Chester and is open seven days a week.
