Caribbean Restaurant Joins Forces with Chester Zoo for Charitable Cocktail

A branch of Turtle Bay is opening for Chester diners in October. The restaurant-bar is set to serve Caribbean-inspired cuisine and drinks and will be based on Northgate Street in the heart of the city.

Turtle Bay recently revealed that it has united with local attraction and conservationist Chester Zoo to fashion a special cocktail. Inspired by the colourful winged residents of the zoo, the new creation has been dubbed “The Caribbean Flamingo”.

The cocktail will highlight Turtle Bay’s long-standing passion for rum. It features a blend of the coconut rum Koko Kanu with leading Jamaican export Wray and Nephew, shaken together with coconut milk and the hazelnut liqueur, Frangelico. However, the drink gets its flamingo pink colour from its final ingredient, sweet strawberry puree.

The Caribbean Flamingo will only be available to buy at Turtle Bay and for every cocktail sold, the restaurant will donate £1 to Chester Zoo, helping its continuous efforts to aid wildlife in its plight to survive.

Turtle Bay’s Regional Operations Director, Phil Dukelow, commented:

“We are over the moon to be teaming up with a destination as iconic as Chester Zoo. Not only are we creating a very special new cocktail for Chester but we’re also raising valuable funds to help support conservation, something that’s very important to us.”

Turtle Bay has also pledged itself to the zoo’s sustainable palm oil champions campaign, promoting Chester’s programme to achieve recognition as a Sustainable Palm Oil City.
