If you are pressed for time, why look any further than the Storyhouse itself? The venue’s on-site restaurant, The Kitchen, has planted its flag in seasonal, locally sourced produce. Depending on the time of the day you are there, you might want to tuck into brunch favourites such as sourdough toast or breakfast bagel, or for later on, there are burgers and a main menu that includes steaks, fish and pasta.
Around the corner from the Storyhouse, and just inside the city walls, The Pied Bull is an excellent choice to start or end the night. This is a pub and hotel that dates all the way back to 1155, and the food isn’t bad, either! Hearty traditional British fare such as fish and chips and steak & ale pie take centre stage here, along with a selection of ales from their microbrewery.
In a more exotic mood? Just two minutes from the Storyhouse is Turtle Bay; a Caribbean restaurant complete with ‘Reggae Roasts’, an island bar and a jerk barbecue. Expect distinctive flavours and a relaxed atmosphere that can make a few hours go past in the blink of an eye.
