A unique charity event called “Run for Nature at Chester Zoo” is making a welcome return this year. Every edition of the footrace is dedicated to raising much-needed funds for a different endangered animal, including giraffes in 2025 and rhinos in 2024. For 2026, the event is focused on tiger conservation, with a campaign slogan of “Run for Tigers”.
Today, tigers are among the planet’s largest big cats and carnivorous land mammals. Chester Zoo is committed to protecting the critically endangered species both onsite and through its global “Living with Tigers” project to address illegal wildlife trade, habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict. By participating in the run, entrants can help protect the animals and support the zoo’s vital conservation work, so tigers thrive for many generations to come.
Designed to suit all types of runners, the event includes 5k and 10k options, plus a one-mile “zoom” race suited to children. Everyone who runs will enjoy several special benefits. These include free zoo entry on the day, a 25% discount on admission for family and friends supporting a runner and open access to the events village. Finisher medals will be awarded to all who complete their course and there will be special prizes and bonuses for fundraisers. These include a cuddly plush tiger for all who raise more than £65.
The 2026 Run for Nature will now take place at Chester Zoo on Sunday, September 20. The zoo is located on Caughall Road in Upton-by-Chester, just three miles from Chester city centre.
