Spitting Feathers Brewery

Spitting Feathers is a local Beer Brewery and Gin Distillery in Chester born of it's enthusiasm for great beer which breathes life into its motto that 'Life is too short for crap beer!'

The Brewery Tap on Bridge Street is one of Spitting Feathers pubs (their first one in fact opening in 2008) showcasing the brewery's fantastic beers and ales and gin and it's a very popular choice for beer lovers visiting the city having won all the local and regional pub awards available.

Spitting Feathers pride themselves on taking the very best of traditional techniques and combining them with modern innovations, materials and ingredients to create distinctive beers with character with the aim of bringing great pleasure to their drinkers and you can even cut your costs by having them provide the beer at your parties and events with all the equipment you'll need to dispense it and branded Spitting Feathers glasses for hire.

Farm to Fork! Spitting Feathers Brewery is based at Common Farm in Waverton, and is proud to be sustainable. The used grains from the brewery are a valuable feed for their cattle and pigs that provide the brewery and their pubs with meat. Bee hives behind our staff bar (where trial brews are drunk and argued over) provide honey for their pubs and seasonal beer, Honey Trap and small amounts of hops are also grown on the farm for use in occasional/special beers.

Beer Festival, Brewery Tours & Tasting and Camping...

At Spitting Feathers HQ they hold two fantastic events and experiences complete with beer, food, music and laughs and if that's not enough you can even camp in their gorgeous orchard Caravan and Motorhome Club Certified Location!

At both the events below you can wash all the beer down with hog roasts (sourced directly from the brewery farm - their very own pigs that have been raised on brewery grains). They also serve pulled pork baps, veggie burgers and the best beef burgers from Dave Joinson in Chester Market and his new shop in Boughton.

Spitting Feathers Brewbarn Sessions - Brewery Tour & Tasting (2 - 6 pm)

• Their infamous all inclusive Brewbarn Sessions are held regularly on Saturday afternoons between March and November in the brewery's fabulous barn with a capacity for up to 120 people.
• Take a brewery tour and find out just how Spitting Feathers brew their award winning beers and tasting the beers is included in the cost of your ticket!
• Enjoy great food from the farm and entertainment from the best local live bands and singers.

Spitting Feathers Beer Festival

• The brewery puts on an annual Beer Festival every year on the 3rd Saturday in July. There are 2 sessions each with 500 tickets and you get to taste more than 30 beers and ciders at the bar via the purchase of beer tokens.

• The festival hosts the best local bands and entertainers alongside over 30 selected beers and ciders (in cask and keg) to sample, served temperature controlled from a hand pump by the amazing Spitting Feathers volunteer staff.
• In previous years, the festival has raised money for local and national causes and has donated over £25,000 to the likes of The Hospice of the Good Shepherd, The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, Cancer Research UK and the RNLI and many more. Check out the below video to get a feel for what to expect from the Spitting Feathers Beer Festival.

Gin & Cider

Alongside their passion for beer, the Spitting Feathers masterminds also love gin so they decided to create their own! Distilled with selected botanicals to produce a unique gin that is refreshing and smooth, they've created a blend with signature juniper in the background accompanied by spices, zests and orange blossom to give it a wonderful, fresh vibrancy.

Spitting Feathers'  cider was introduced in 2021 using apples selected from Eaton Estate orchards and Spitting Feather's own orchard to produce a refreshing lightly-sparkling, medium cider which is available for home delivery in cases of 8x 500ml bottles or as a 3 bottle gift pack.
