Much-visited historical attraction Sick to Death has Halloween plans designed for all ages this year.

The medical museum in St Michael’s Church in Chester is putting on two separate programmes called “Horrible Halloween” and “Scared to Death” for 2025, and tickets are now on sale.

Horrible Halloween is a daytime experience aimed at children, perfectly timed for the October half-term. The event opens at 10 am and runs until 6 pm, with last entry at 5 pm. Full of family fun, it will offer parents and their children the chance to investigate the gory history of medicine in Chester for Halloween. Trick or treat prizes will be ready to win on a spookily designed Halloween activity trail, and there will be unusual characters to meet along the way. On certain days, kids can also get a head start on their costume, with help from the face painting artists present.

Scared to Death is for adults, and allows them to explore the museum at three late night openings between 6:30 pm and 10 pm in the run up to Halloween. By the light of a lantern, intrepid guest can explore gruesome stories while being stalked by fiendish barbers and ghastly plague victims. This event is recommended only for those aged 12 and over.

Horrible Halloween runs from Saturday, October 25 to Sunday, November 2, and Scared to Death is available from Wednesday, October 29 to Friday, October 31. The Sick to Death attraction can be found in St Michael’s Church located on the Bridge Street Rows in Chester.
