Chester Cathedral Ushers in Disco for Adults

A much-loved disco event is arriving at Chester Cathedral this spring called “Discos for Grown Ups”.

After proving exceptionally popular at Chester Town Hall, with four sold-out events in a row, the new nightclub experience is headed for the much larger venue and bringing a night dedicated to dance and music along with it.

May will see the city’s spiritual centre and premier events venue aglow with glitter, glamour, mirror balls and skilled stage dancers. The cathedral’s outstanding acoustics will ring out with beloved floor fillers from the 90s and 80s as well as the late 70s, an era known as the “Golden Age of Disco”.

As such, guests joining the party can enjoy disco divas like Donna Summer, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Candi Stanton, Robin S and, Chaka Khan alongside famous acts and artists from the genre like Earth, Wind and Fire, Odyssey, Chic, Sister Sledge, the Human League, ABBA, Erasure and the Bee Gees, among many others.

Especially for the night, the grade-listed Cathedral will be lit by a laser and light show to provide partygoers with a dramatic environment to show off their best dance moves. In the spirit of fun, the event organisers are also offering all who attend the adult disco a selection of retro sweets and glow sticks free of charge.

Discos for Grown Ups will now run on Saturday, May 2 at Chester Cathedral for the first time. The landmark building is located on St Werburgh Street in the heart of the city.
