While the 2026 racing season in Chester may have ended in September, the city’s record-breaking race venue still has another trick up its sleeve for autumn.
Halloween will see Chester Racecourse host a premier event called “The Lord Mayor’s Spooktacular Fireworks”. With features designed to appeal to all members of the family, the single-night celebration promises epic fireworks displays, food and drinks, fun fair rides, Halloween activities for kids and more.
Those attending will find a brightly coloured fairground set up in the historic racing grounds with a wide range of rides to try and snacks to buy. An early fireworks show is planned for younger racegoers followed by the main show-stopping display a little later. Other features of the night include haunted trick or treat fun, and LED light shows.
The Lord Mayor’s Spooktacular Fireworks will be held in Chester Racecourse, taking place on Saturday, October 31. The venue is located on New Crane Street in Chester and packages are available at a range of prices including general admission at £10 to VIP for £35, with children under five years old enjoying free admission.
For those seeking a more premium experience, the racecourse’s esteemed 1539 restaurant is also offering special packages for the event. These include dining in the warmth of its elegant interior while watching the displays or on its rooftop terrace for panoramic view of the fireworks for £49 per person.
Entry starts at 4.30 pm when the gates open, with the junior fireworks starting at 6.45 pm. The main fireworks will start at 7.30 pm with gates closing at 9.30 pm.
