Chester Venue Hosts Special Summer Concert

Residents and visitors to Chester on the hunt for smooth summery sounds won’t be disappointed this coming August.

Popular music and comedy venue Alexander’s Live is hosting an outdoor event called “The Christians – Courtyard Special” in the summer month and inviting music fans of 18 or over to attend.

Hit music ensemble The Christians will be playing a setlist sourced from their much-loved discography showcasing hits from albums like the number one LP Colour, Happy in Hell, Speed of Life and We, among others. Formed in the 80s in Liverpool, the band were once described as ‘The Temptations wearing ripped jeans’ by music critic Charles Bottomley and praised them for gritty song writing in a sugary shell.

The Christians enjoyed success in the 90s and despite breaks ups, solo careers and personnel changes, reformed to play together again. The band takes its name from the surnames of three members of its original line-up, Gary, Roger and Russell Christian and the guitarist’s middle name, Henry Christian Priestman.

Fans coming down to the August show can enjoy much-loved tracks which may include “Words”, “Ideal World”, “Hooverville”, “What’s in a Word”, “Forgotten Town” and “When the Finger Points.”

The Christians – Courtyard Special will now take place at Alexander’s Live on Thursday, August 28. The show will get underway at 7 pm and the venue is simple to find at 2 Rufus Court in Chester. Tickets for the live concert are standing only and priced at £36.75 per person.
