Chester Zoo Gives Glimpse of Updated Festive Event

Education charity and world-leading conservationist Chester Zoo recently provided a sneak peek into its epic plans for its beloved Lanterns and Light trail. The festive favourite has been reimagined for its 2023 edition. Event organisers at the zoo were thrilled to share their news.

Senior Admissions and Membership Manager for the zoo, Gemma Wright, commented:

“There’re only three weeks to go until we kick off the festive period with the biggest, brightest, and most spectacular light trail ever staged at Chester Zoo.

The popular wintertime celebration allows visitors to explore an illuminated trail set up in the 128-acre grounds of the zoo, featuring hundreds of animal shaped lanterns in all the colours of the rainbow. On the trail, zoo guests can also encounter cheery costumed characters, including the big man in the red suit, Father Christmas.

New for this year, the zoo is collaborating with media giant Sony Music to provide seasonal soundscapes to accompany ground-breaking installations. However, in a world first, the winter event will also feature a massive four metres tall interactive 3D hologram of a woolly mammoth.

There will also be many other new features on the trail. These include a massive fire garden, illuminated dolphins, an ultraviolet walkway lined with luminous animal faces and a colour-changing rainforest.

For fun lovers of all ages there will also be several fairground rides set up at the event and Christmas market stalls for shoppers to pick up a perfect present to put under the tree.
