Known for its eclectic mix of in-person comedy and music shows, the Live Rooms in Chester champions up-and-coming and established acts alike.
This autumn, the celebrated venue is welcoming pop-rock act T’Pau to the stage of its Room L1. The October show will see the band led by original members lead singer Carol Decker and guitarist Ronnie Rogers, and promises an evening of memorable tracks.
Founded in 1986, T’Pau named their band after a Vulcan character in the original Star Trek series. After being signed to a record label early, they enjoyed success when an overlooked single called “Heart and Soul” was selected as the soundtrack for a Pépe jeans commercial. Afterwards, the track made the top five both at home and in the US, and the LP it was included on called “Bridge of Spies” rocketed to number one in the UK album chart.
At the height of their fame, T’Pau toured with 80s pop and rock acts like Nik Kershaw and Bryan Adams, and added another guitarist for a bigger sound. The group split up briefly for Decker to launch a solo project, but she relaunched it in 1998. Since the band’s 25th anniversary in 2013, she and Rogers have toured as T’Pau with a new line-up.
Fans of the band coming to the show can enjoy a setlist of much-loved music that may include hits like “China in Your Hand” and “I Will Be with You”. T’Pau will be at the Live Rooms on Thursday, October 2 and the concert starts at 7.30 pm.
