The new year will see Alexander’s Live hosting a world-famous Scottish pop and glam rock band.
The Bay City Rollers will be on stage at the popular Chester venue at the end of January to play a single-night show. The band features a new line-up assembled by legendary Bay City Roller, Stuart “Woody” Wood. The songwriter is renowned for covering guitar duties for the band during the 1970s when The Rollers were at the height of their fame.
Now, Wood has found a group of gifted musicians who can embody the essence of The Bay City Rollers that drove fans wild. The new roster includes lead vocalist and guitarist Ian Thomson as frontman, backed by bassist Mikey Smith, keyboardist John McLaughlin and drummer Jamie McGrory. However, Wood will be joining them, returning to his roots on guitar.
Fans of the band in Chester coming down to the gig can expect to hear a set-listed loaded with tracks from The Bay City Rollers song book. Songs on the night might include classic like “I Only Want To Be With You”, “All of Me Loves All of You”, “Summerlove Sensation”, “Rock N’ Roll Love Letter” and “Shang-A-Lang”, among others.
The Bay City Rollers will now be in concert at Alexander’s Live on Thursday, January 30. The venue can be found at 2 Rufus Court in Chester, and doors will open at 7 pm with the show set to kick off an hour later at 8 pm.
