Conservation site and popular city attraction Chester Zoo has announced it will be hosting a new science-inspired event entitled “Wild Science Safari,” with a TV personality joining in.
An immersive trail, the zoo experience is a family-friendly event that is free to zoo ticket holders and will run from February 18 through to March 3.
As part of its announcement, the Zoo has also detailed that on February 21, as part of the safari, it will be welcoming a special guest – children’s television presenter and wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin, who won Strictly Come Dancing last year. On the day, Hamza will carry out two talks detailing his life working as a cameraman for audiences aged 13 and over. Afterwards, there will be a chance for younger fans to enjoy a meet and greet with the celebrity.
During the talk, called “My Life Behind the Lens”, the wildlife cameraman will share a selection of different photographs from his many expeditions and adventures around the world.
Conservation Education and Engagement Manager for Chester Zoo, Nicola Buckley, commented:
“We’re unbelievably excited to welcome Hamza to Chester Zoo for this family-friendly event over February half term.”
Those taking part in the Wild Science Safari will get a chance to learn all about how conservation teams at the zoo are using their exceptional science-based skills to prevent extinction. It will take them to five different “wonder lab” locations around the Chester attraction to explore the zoo’s efforts to help a range of animals, including giant anteaters, Asian elephants and sun bears.
