Chester music fans seeking a Christmas concert won’t want to miss an exciting opportunity this winter.
Chester Cathedral has announced it will open its venerable doors to the vocal quartet G4 in December for an epic musical extravaganza.
The British vocal troupe rose to prominence back in 2004 when they took second place in the first series of popular talent show “The X Factor” in 2004. While they first formed as a barbershop quartet, the group are now known for performing popular music with a unique operatic delivery. The group’s origins also play a part in their name. Its founding members met at London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama and G4 stands for “Guildhall Four”.
G4 currently consists of tenor Jonathan Ansell (tenor) and baritone Mike Christie (baritone), with Jai McDowall (low tenor) and Duncan Sandilands (bass).
The upcoming appearance in Chester is part of the troupe’s “G4 Christmas Tour” which also celebrates their 24th anniversary. Those attending the concert can expect all the hallmarks of a G4 performance, including professional showmanship, perfectly blended voices and unforgettable harmonies, all in the idyllic seasonal setting in The Nave of Chester’s Grade-listed cathedral. The set-list has been curated for the occasion with a mix of traditional carols and festive favourites.
G4 will now sing live in The Nave at Chester Cathedral on Tuesday, December 3. The cathedral is situated on St Werburgh Street in Chester. Special VIP tickets are also available that allow guests to enjoy a meet and greet with the group at 6 pm before the show starts.
