Celebrated for its summer race meets, Chester Racecourse is welcoming a brand-new event for the season.

Dubbed the “Rum & Reggae Festival”, the occasion is designed as a family-friendly event with a tropical paradise atmosphere. Loaded with sunshine vibes, the venerable venue is hosting the city’s first major reggae concert outdoors in more than 15 years and a famous headline act is booked to play.

British reggae legends Aswad are topping the bill. Known for their soul and R&B influences, the Grammy Award-nominated band formed in the ‘70s and earned national appeal with hit singles like “Shine” and “Don’t Turn Around”. Aswad will be joined on stage by other distinguished reggae acts including Da Fuchaman and his Fire Blaze band, General Levy and Xodus.

Beyond the bands performing live, there will be a vast selection of street food to eat, a Caribbean soundtrack to dance to, cocktails like classic rum punch and an epic choice of white and dark rum from premium brands sourced from across the globe. Those coming can expect festival energy and a day dedicated to community and culture.

The Rum & Reggae festival will now run at Chester Racecourse on Saturday, August 29. The festivities will get underway from 11 am and the race venue is based on New Crane Street in Chester.

General adult admission is £40, under 18s can get tickets at £20 per person and children under five enjoy free entry. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available for £65.
