Chester Cathedral to Present Classic Rock Anthems

As part of its continuing partnership with Concerts by Candlelight, Chester Cathedral is set to share the ultimate tribute to beloved British rock band Queen.

Dubbed “Queen by Candlelight” the show will highlight the musical compositions of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor in the hallowed surroundings of the Chester landmark.

The upcoming October concert comes straight from New York City’s acclaimed Carnegie Hall, and a run of sold-out performances in Australia and select venues in the UK. Queen by Candlelight boasts a cast of experienced singers from London’s West End, with sterling support from an accomplished live rock band. Together, they aim to supply a Queen experience like fans have never encountered before.

The show has been cleverly curated to include a set-list loaded with some of Queen’s most iconic tracks. Those attending the concert can hear hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “We Are the Champions” and songs from the Highlander soundtrack like “It’s a Kind of Magic” and “Who Wants to Live Forever”.

Hundreds of flameless candles using LED technology will illuminate the performance, promoting audience safety and protection for the grade-listed building which has a history dating to 1092.

The Queen by Candlelight concert will now take place at Chester Cathedral on Thursday, October 17. Admission to the event will begin at 7.30 pm and the cathedral is situated on St Werburgh Street in Chester.

Those attending the musical event are advised by Chester cathedral that bag searches will take place at the door, as no food or beverages from outside are permitted.
