Chester’s multipurpose events venue Storyhouse will be welcoming a much-loved character to its stage in August.
Hey Duggee – The Live Theatre Show will bring the famous BBC Studios animation created by Grant Orchard to life in a production designed for children who are fans of the hit educational preschool series.
Hey Duggee has had four seasons to date, with 196 episodes in total. The CBeebies show experienced increased popularity among parents and their children during its third series, which was aired during the 2020 pandemic lockdown.
The live interpretation of the series features Duggee, the canine leader of the Squirrel club, along the Squirrels themselves, who are Norrie the mouse, Tag the clumsy rhino, Roly the hippo, Happy the crocodile and Betty the purple octopus.
The show recently took home the title of Best Family Show at the Olivier Awards for 2023. Time Out Magazine gave the show a four-star review and described it as:
“A joyous piece of family entertainment.”
The show is filled with laughs, music, dancing, puppetry, singing, and non-stop fun. It is produced by Kenny Wax Family Entertainment and Cuffe & Taylor under licence from BBC Studios.
It will be onstage at Storyhouse on Saturday, August 19. The event’s venue is located on Hunter Street in Chester and the production will run from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Tickets range in price from £14 to £26.50 depending on seating, with adult tickets costing slightly more than those for under-16s.
