Visitors and residents of Chester who appreciate art can attend an event arriving in the city this summer. The home of the city’s historical finds, the Grosvenor Museum, is running a new exhibition that highlights the latest works of local artists.
Entitled the “Cheshire Artists Network: Looking Out, Looking In”, the event programme will feature a static exhibition, lectures and a chance to meet the creatives behind the work on show. Pieces on display will include a variety of art mediums including print, painting, ceramics, textiles, photography and sculpture.
The Cheshire Artists Network is a regional group made up of 35 full-time artists. It was founded in 2000, and the group has exhibited across the county and beyond.
Artist talks will include “The Art of Vulnerability” from Lynette Howells-Moore, “Art with ADHD” from Kate McKennan, “How I Became a Potter” from Barbara Barlow, “Mindfulness and the Art of Photography” from Allisdhair McNaull and “Visual Language” from Steve Lloyd Davies. A painter and lecturer in Fine Art, Davies has exhibited in Cheshire, North Staffordshire and in in England’s Southeast.
Alongside the exhibition, interactive events featuring artists like Barbara Barlow, Lynette Howells-Moore and Kate Marchuk will cover subjects like painting with oils and egg tempera, working from photographs, landscapes, sketching and sketch books.
The Cheshire Artists Network: Looking Out, Looking In exhibition will now launch at the Grosvenor Museum on Saturday, July 25. The museum is simple to spot at 27 Grosvenor Street in Chester.
