YouTube sensation and character comedian extraordinaire Laura Ramoso will be arriving in Chester this spring to perform a live set. The Toronto-based comic with Italian-German heritage is set to take to the stage at Chester’s Storyhouse in April as part of her upcoming 2024 tour called “Sit Up Straight”.
Renowned for her fast-paced impressions inspired by family members and social observations gained from a childhood filled with travel, Ramoso has become a tour de force in stand-up comedy.
Her performances on social media channels like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube have enjoyed major success, accruing around two million followers to date. Her hit characters include “Italian Dad”, “German Mom” along with the Girl who just got back from…”. Some comics struggle making the transition from being an internet sensation to the stage, but this isn’t the case with Ramoso.
2022 saw her bring her critically appreciated show called “Frances” to the world and, in 2023, she enjoyed sold-out runs at the Soho Theatre in London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The same year, she was hailed as “the New Face of Comedy” by Just for Laughs.
Discussing her influences, the comic cited Aldo, Giovanni & Giacomo, Italy’s famous sketch trio, and Rowan Atkinson in the world-famous role of Mr. Bean.
Laura Ramoso will now perform her latest material at Storyhouse’s Main Theatre on Thursday, April 18. The well-known art venue is situated on Hunter Street in Chester and the show will start at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at £20 per person.
