An interactive experience that lets audiences take part in a murder mystery is planned for Chester. Designed especially for Halloween, the show is called “Jack’s Back!” and is inspired by the infamous cases involving the Victorian serial killer Jack the Ripper, who was never officially identified or caught.

An all-new Death Becomes You (DBY) Interactive performance, the Halloween special is penned by the same writer behind smash-hit crime-solving shows such as “Murder in the Park”, “The Body Smugglers” and “The City of Curses”.

Set on 1 November 1891, the show takes place more than two years after the last Ripper victim was killed. Beneath a railway arch in Whitechapel’s Swallow Garden, the body of Francesca Cole is discovered. While the public believes the new murder means that the capital’s most feared predator has returned, Scotland Yard, with a suspect in custody, is keen to stamp out the rumour. Then another body turns up, and the interactive murder mystery begins.

Ticketholders will be immersed in an engaging theatrical story featuring professional actors, music, multimedia and custom video elements, while actively assisting in solving the crime.

Jack’s Back! will be on stage at the Garret Theatre in Storyhouse for two evenings following Halloween: Sunday, 1 November, and Monday, 2 November. The arts centre is located on Hunter Street, and the show is two and a half hours long, including an interval.

Tickets are priced between £26.25 and £29. Due to some references in the show, the performance has an age recommendation of 12 and over.
