The multitalented Jenny Éclair is on her way to Chester next month.

The novelist, comedian and self-described “professional show-off” will take to the stage at Storyhouse to perform a new set called “Jokes, Jokes, Jokes Live!”

Éclair’s appearance at the Hunter Street arts centre is designed to celebrate the release of her side-splitting memoir carrying the same name. As such, the show is autobiographical in nature and part of a nationwide tour that will see her tread the boards in major cities across the UK.

The Times newspaper described Éclair as “ruthlessly funny” and she is best known for her appearances in television’s Loose Women from 2011 to 2012 and Grumpy Old Women from 2004 to 2007. The new show will delve into her history from early experiences drinking cider in drama school and writing punk poetry to waitressing and living miserably in a bedsit. It will also follow her as she became a mother, grandmother, author and podcaster, as well as the first woman to ever win the coveted Perrier Award.

Performing for over 40 years, the show promises plenty of laughs, baritone nursery rhymes and animal impressions.

Jenny Éclair’s “Jokes, Jokes, Jokes Live!” will be performed in the main theatre at Storyhouse on Thursday, March 13. The show will begin at 7.30 pm and the arts hubs is located on Hunter Street in Chester. The performance is an hour and 50 minutes long, including an interval. The price of general admission to non-members of Storyhouse is £27.
