Chester Cathedral to Host Coronation Events

A weekend of events to celebrate the upcoming Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort has been announced by Chester Cathedral.

This Saturday, May 6, the Cathedral will be presenting a special livestreaming event of the BBC’s coverage of the coronation. The Cathedral will open its doors at 11 am and the livestream will start at 11 am.

Sunday, May 7 will see the Cathedral hold a Celebration of King Charles III. A service dedicated to celebrating the Coronation of Their Majesty The King and The Queen Consort will take place at 11 am and all attending should be seated by 10.30 am. Seating is unallocated, but walk-ins will be issued seats on a first come, first served basis. The special service will also be screened live on the Chester Cathedral’s official YouTube channel.

Following the Sunday service to celebrate The Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort, Chester Cathedral will be presenting a Coronation Picnic at 12 noon. Once attendees have booked and reserved a picnic box, they will receive a confirmation. This should be brought on the day to aid collection from the Cathedral Refectory, from 12 pm onwards.

Each picnic box is designed for a one person and includes a cake, a cream scone, a mixed sandwich selection, and is accompanied by either a tea or coffee. The picnic is open to all, not just attendees of the service.

Parking is available for attendees of Chester Cathedral’s events at Exton Park and Queen’s Park.
