Renowned for its annual races like the Chester Cup and the Cheshire Oaks, Chester Racecourse also lends its space to a wide range of events throughout the year, from food festival finals to live music concerts. However, this coming July it will become a mecca for fans of comic books, cult TV shows, cosplay, games and film.
Presented by Monopoly Events, the brand-new concept show is called Comic Con Mania and is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to secure its spot as the leading convention operator for fans of science fiction, superheroes and fantasy. A more compact version of the standard comic conventions, Comic Con Mania will also be more affordable, with adult admission available for just £10.
The fan-friendly single-day event at Chester’s world-famous racing venue promises a geektastic extravaganza for residents and visitors alike with plenty to see and do. Comic Con Mania invites fans to dress up as their favourite characters from film, TV, games or comics to participate in the Cosplay parade and competition.
Hand-picked traders will be on site selling merchandise and collectibles sourced from current and retro gaming and franchises from the big and small screen alike. Props and set builds from shows and movies will also be installed for memorable photo opportunities to upload to social media and celebrity guests ready to meet, greet and sign items and images.
Comic Con Mania will be at Chester Racecourse on New Crane Street on Saturday, July 6 between 11 am and 5 pm.
